Version 1

Version 1

Pebble stems from the problem that stroke patients could not carry heavier objects due to their conditions in their hands regarding grip strength as well as spasticity in their fingers. It aims to find a solution to help people regain their confidence in their lives as well as become more independent post stroke.

Version 2

Version 2

Pebble is a product that removes grip strength and instead, focuses on picking something up in a different way. Through ideation, Pebble has been designed to utilise the strength in the wrist to help it achieve its goal. There are two versions of Pebble, one with a removable snap fit as well as a part elastic part stiff strap (Version 1) and a second with just an elastic strap for the wrist (Version 2).

The Idea behind the snap fit hook, is to create different hooks or tools for different jobs, so people can tailor their own pebble to incorporate different tools personalised to the user.

FEA analysis was also used to determine the thickness of the material within the snap fits which could handle different weights. It also showed me areas of weakness and where the material should be thicker to handle more force.

Pebble is the result of many iterations of prototypes and ideas. It aims to prove comfortable when being used and also give satisfaction back to the users by being ergonomic, discrete and also designed for the user, which Strive finds very important for all its products.

Pebble is also a discrete product which helps stroke patients with their everyday life with the option of hiding the product behind their palm and from plain sight. It can be seen in use by some users as well.
